Event Summary


Join us for an insightful panel discussion where our experts will be discussing Toronto Green Standard V4 and its impact on high-rise design. Engineers, developers, and architects will share their perspectives facing new challenges and developing innovative and collaborative solutions for their building and systems design.


Panel


Panelist - Andre Antanaitis - Director Development - Great Gulf Group


Andre Antanaitis has been with the Great Gulf Group since 2017. As Director of Development, he has led some of Great Gulf’s largest high rise residential projects in Toronto. Andre brings over 10 years of experience in acquisition, planning, design, and construction for mixed-use buildings. Prior to Great Gulf, Andre worked at a boutique developer where he was responsible for the underwriting and due diligence for development projects across the GTA.

Andre holds a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from the University of Waterloo and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario.


 


Panelist - Bram Atlin - Principal - Smith and Andersen

Bram has designed and managed the delivery of numerous projects, taking on increasingly complex roles. His roots with Smith + Andersen run deep - he worked with the firm as a co-op student while completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Waterloo and joined S+A the same year he graduated. Bram leads the multi-unit residential team based out of Toronto, providing innovative solutions on some of the GTA's most impressive high rise developments. Bram has designed and managed a wide variety of projects across the country, including high-rise residential, institutional, commercial office, data centres and community centres, and continues to grow his extensive technical experience


                       

Panelist - Shaheen Asif- Senior Associate - Footprint

 Shaheen is a leader in sustainability best practices, with over 28 years of experience in sustainable design, energy performance, and project management. A trusted LEED Accredited professional and certified Passive House Designer, he adopts a holistic approach to sustainable buildings, working collaboratively with clients and utilizing innovative green technologies to create environmentally-oriented and energy-efficient design solutions for both new and existing buildings. His extensive qualifications and proven certification knowledge are reflected in his impressive portfolio.




Panelist - Aaron Budd - Principal & Director - Regenerative Practice 

Aaron is a partner and leads SvN's Regenerative Practice, which considers how architecture and urban environments can co-evolve with natural systems. He is a creative thinker, pragmatic designer and environmental champion with over two decades of architecture, planning and sustainability consulting experience on diverse projects. As the leader of SvN's Regenerative Practice, Aaron brings together the firm's architects, landscape architects, planners and urban designers in a unique design process to develop zero-carbon, circular and resilient communities. His approach bridges architectural design with environmental analysis and technical knowledge to deliver climate-positive design solutions. Some of Aaron's current SvN projects include: Ontario Line transit-oriented communities in Toronto, the Keeseekoose First Nation Master Plan in Regina; the Salinas Bahamas Master Plan and Nature Reserve; the New Mimico Master Plan in Toronto; a mass-timber building in Collingwood, Ontario; and a net-zero carbon rental apartment building in Toronto. He began his career in Toronto, followed by international experience in Ghana, Indonesia, the Philippines, France, New York and London.



               

Moderator - Abhishek Khurana - CEO Voyager Buildings

Abhishek Khurana is a Building Automation Contractor based in Toronto, Canada. Having grown up in both India and Canada, Abhi's ability to understand and appreciate multiple perspectives has enabled him to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and find innovative solutions to complex challenges.

Abhi is a distinguished lecturer in the field of HVAC automation. He holds a degree in Mechatronics Engineering and Control Systems from McMaster University.

He worked as an Account Executive for Trane Technologies, where he honed his skills in designing and executing HVAC Control solutions. Abhi then started Voyager Buildings, a firm that provides turnkey Building Automation and Artificial Intelligence solutions.

His leadership in the industry is evidenced by his active involvement in ASHRAE, where he has held numerous positions including Toronto Chapter President. He currently serves as the Regional Vice Chair for the Chapter Technology Transfer Committee (CTTC) and is a part of TC1.4.
