Volunteering Opportunities

There are many volunteering opportunities within the Toronto ASHRAE Chapter!

If you are interested in volunteering for any of the committees below or would like to learn more, please contact Dragos Paraschiv with your name, contact information and the committee(s) you are interested in assisting.

Chapter Operations

- Contribute to improving chapter processes, member engagement, and overall organizational effectiveness.

- Help maintain effective communication and collaboration among chapter committees and volunteers.

- Assist with planning, coordinating, and organizing chapter meetings, events, and initiatives.

Chapter Technology Transfer Committee (Events & Technical Programs)

- Provide support to committee chair in developing chapter programs for the administrative year. Consisting but not limited to:

1. Selection of relevant topics in HVAC&R industry for technical presentations.
2. Contacting potential speakers and provide support with travel and accommodation as needed.
3. Contacting and booking venues for monthly meetings. Ensure all requirements are met (i.e capacity, AV system, etc)

4. Coordinating event financial details and budgeting.

5. Coordinate with other chapter chairs to facilitate event promotion.

- Provide support to committee chair during chapter events. Consisting but not limited to:
1. Setting up and Managing registration desk
2. Event day coordination between chapter, presenter, exhibitors, attendees, and venue.

Membership Promotion Committee

- Promote ASHRAE membership and encourage new professionals and students to join the Toronto Chapter.

- Support member recruitment, engagement, and retention initiatives.

- Assist in organizing networking events and activities to strengthen connections among chapter members.

Research Promotion Committee

- Connect with engineering firms, suppliers and contractors to promote sponsorship packages.

- Follow-up with past and new exhibitors for "table tops" at dinner meetings and career fair.

- Issue raffle tickets for 50/50 drawing during dinner meetings.

- Assist Golf Committee with promotional activities during annual golf tournament.

Student Activities Committee

- Connect with students, educational institutions, and industry professionals to promote ASHRAE student activities and engagement.

- Assist in organizing student events, technical presentations, networking sessions, and career fairs.

- Support student chapters by coordinating industry visits, mentorship opportunities, and educational initiatives.

- Encourage student participation in ASHRAE programs, competitions, scholarships, and professional development activities.

Communications Committee

- Assist in managing and updating the ASHRAE Toronto Chapter website with upcoming events, announcements, and chapter activities.

- Support the creation and distribution of newsletters, email communications, and promotional materials to keep members informed.

- Promote chapter events, technical seminars, and networking opportunities through social media and other communication channels.

- Coordinate with other committees to share updates, highlight chapter achievements, and enhance member engagement.

Government Affairs Committee

- Support communication between ASHRAE members and government representatives on industry-related matters.

-Promote awareness of building codes, energy efficiency policies, and environmental regulations.

- Assist in organizing events and discussions on government initiatives affecting the HVAC&R industry.

Historical Committee

- Collect and preserve historical records, photographs, and achievements of the ASHRAE Toronto Chapter.

- Document important chapter events, milestones, and contributions of past members.

- Assist in sharing the chapter's history through newsletters, website updates, and special events.

Webmaster

- Maintain and regularly update the ASHRAE Toronto Chapter website with current information and events.

- Coordinate with committees to upload announcements, event details, and other relevant content.

- Monitor website performance, fix technical issues, and ensure a user-friendly experience for visitors.
