Theme: Membership Promotion Night


ASHRAE Toronto's November 2012 dinner meeting is themed Membership Promotion Night and will be hosted at Hazelton Manor, located at 99 Peelar Road in Vaughan, Ontario. There will be a limited registration technical tour prior to the dinner, where members will tour the Earth Rangers Centre

Technical Tour:

The tour will start at 4:00 PM. Registrants are asked to meet in the lobby at least 15 minutes prior to the tour start. Please note only members pre-registered for the tour will be allowed to attend.

*Technical tour is available only for members who are attending the dinner meeting (LIMITED to 40 SPACES). Registration is required.

Dinner Presentation:

Located on the Kortright Living City Campus in Woodbridge, and home to the Earth Rangers Animal Ambassadors and staff, the Centre is a showcase of cutting edge sustainable building technology such as energy metering, smart automation and controls, innovative water and wastewater management, solar generation, green roofs, and geothermal heating and cooling.

The Earth Rangers Centre (ERC), is now certified Platinum under LEED® for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance (LEED EB), scoring a total of 92 of a possible 110 points, the ERC is the highest scoring LEED EB certified building in Canada.


Guest Speakers

Andy Schonberger


Andy is the Director of the Earth Rangers Centre, leading its efforts towards energy neutrality, sustainable operation, and LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance certification. He is a Mechanical Engineer, a LEED Accredited Professional and Certified Energy Manager. Andy's background is in industrial operations management, making him an ideal fit for the many varied interwoven systems that the Earth Rangers Centre is integrating to achieve its operational goals. He is the Vice-Chair of the Canada Green Building Council Greater Toronto Chapter, and an active promoter of healthier, high performance buildings everywhere . At Earth Rangers, Andy is actively involved in engaging the green building community and showcasing the success that the LEED Platinum building represents.

James Raven, B.Sc.M.E.

James has more than 10 years of experience in the energy management consulting industry including LEED EB:O&M assessment and analysis, energy auditing, commissioning of new and existing buildings, utility monitoring & verification and project implementation management.  As an Associate and Project Manager with MCW Custom Energy Solutions Ltd., he has managed successful energy efficiency and building renewal projects in the commercial, institutional and public sector including a $45M project with Toronto Community Housing.  James also has experience managing Commissioning and Retro-Commissioning projects, including Bio-Safety Level 4 Laboratories for the US Centres for Disease Control and several projects targeting LEED NC, CI and EB:O&M certification.  He was MCW’s project manager in providing engineering support for the successful LEED EB:O&M Platinum certification at the Earth Rangers Centre.
